Betty in Launceston thought she would have to sell her house because she could no longer negotiate the stairs.
Our technical volunteer Barry was able to construct a modification to the banister so that Betty had enough leverage to get herself up and down the stairs.
‘Nancy’s’ life has changed for the better thanks to a project facilitated by TADTAS.
Nancy is 96, confined to a wheelchair and lives with her daughter in a fairly hilly suburb.
Her daughter contacted TADTAS to see if we could suggest a way of getting Nancy’s wheelchair from the house to the street without negotiating steps.
Our Technical Coordinator Tony worked with a commercial builder to design and construct a ramp to accommodate Nancy’s wheelchair.
With the ramp and a wheelchair compatible taxi, Nancy and her daughter can enjoy the occasional counter lunch and concert.
